My name is Reality Leang and I’m from America, um California, but I also lived in many cities in California, but my favorite place is Long Beach.

私の名前はリアリティ・リャンです。アメリカのカリフォルニア出身ですが、カリフォルニア内の色々な都市にも住んだことがあります。一番好きな場所はロングビーチです。

I love the transportation in Japan. We can ride the trains anywhere. In California, I had to drive everywhere, so the transportation is great.

日本の交通機関が大好きです。どこへでも電車で行けますから。カリフォルニアではどこへ行くにも車を運転しなければならなかったので、交通機関が素晴らしいなと思います。

At Apple Seed Academy, the children have the chance from morning to nighttime to use English, so I think that’s a very good environment for them, especially for the young kids. And for the older kids in the afternoon, they have more chances to use English at Apple Seed.

アップルシードアカデミーでは、子どもたちが朝から晩まで英語を使う機会があります。特に小さなお子さんたちにとって非常に良い環境だと思います。また、年上のお子さんたちにとっても、午後に英語を使う機会がたくさんあります。

I like how we can dress in like a t-shirt and shorts, and also the classes — there are many kinds of classes. We get to go to the park and do many things with the kids, not only study with the kids.

Tシャツやショートパンツといった動きやすい格好でいられることも気に入っています。様々な種類のクラスがあり、公園に行ったり、ただ勉強するだけでなく色々なことを子どもたちと一緒に体験できるところが大好きです。

My favorite moment in the classroom is when I set the standard for my classes — like I want the kids to do certain things. At first they say, “Oh no, I don’t want to do it,” but later on they get the idea why they’re doing that. So they learn, “Oh, once I do this, I will get better and better.”

クラスの目標を設定して、子どもたちに特定の課題に取り組んでもらう時です。最初は「えー、やりたくない」と言うのですが、後になってなぜそれをやっているのかを理解してくれるんです。そうして「あ、これをやればどんどん上手になるんだ」と学んでくれる瞬間が最高ですね。

For everyone, I’d like you to do your best and try to practice English, try to study, and just do a little bit every day. If you do it, then you will be able to get better for sure. Thank you.

My name is Eriko. I work as a childcare worker here at AppleSeed Academy.

私の名前はエリコです。このアップルシードアカデミーで保育士として働いています。

My favorite moment spent here is watching the children, who aren’t used to the school yet, gradually get accustomed to it and experiencing the joy of seeing them start to speak English on their own.

私がここで過ごしていて楽しいと思う瞬間は、まだ慣れていない子供たちが少しずつスクールに慣れて、自分で英語を話し始める喜びを感じているのを見守ることです。

All the teachers here love children and are very kind, so let’s continue to learn English together in a fun atmosphere!

I’m Grace and I’m from Hong Kong.

Well, the thing is, I grew up in England so I don’t really know a lot about Hong Kong, but, definitely I know Hong Kong, the food is nice. If you know dim sum, you must try it.

実は、イギリスで育ったので香港のことはあまりよく知らないんです。でも、香港といえば間違いなく食べ物が美味しいですね。もし「香港飲茶（ヤムチャ）」を知っているなら、ぜひ食べてみてください。

I like to go hiking and cycling.

ハイキングやサイクリングに行くのが好きです。

Well, it depends on the, level of the classes, like sometimes I teach the very little kids and they are, adorable, of course. I love seeing them, just watching them. And the big kids, I like to play, games with them during circle time.

そうですね、クラスのレベル（年齢）によります。ときどき本当に小さなお子さんたちを教えることがあるのですが、もちろんすごく可愛いんです。見守っているだけで大好きですね。大きめの子たちのクラスでは、サークルタイムに一緒にゲームをして遊ぶのが好きです。

Oh, well, I’m sure all kids, don’t like to study, and, but I just think, our life is just very short and, studying, is only like, a few years in our life. So, why don’t we just do it now?

I’d say that my home country is very, very noisy. It’s filled with a lot of people shouting all the time and going to the park and being quite loud. But also, it’s also very rainy. So everyone’s always outside, but it’s always raining and no one has an umbrella. It’s quite different from Japan; everyone has an umbrella and it’s very quiet, I think, yes.

私の国はとても、とても賑やかだと思います。いつもたくさんの人が大声を出していたり、公園でかなり大騒ぎしたりしています。それから、とても雨が多いですね。みんな常に外にいるのですが、いつも雨が降っているのに誰も傘を差さないんです。日本とはかなり違いますね。日本だとみんな傘を持っていますし、とても静かだと思います。

In my free time, I read a lot of books and I also like to write my own stories — things like poems and my own book. I also spend a lot of time hiking in Japan. Japan is quite good for hiking, you know, when it’s not too hot and not too many mosquitoes. So yeah, I enjoy hiking.

自由な時間には、本をたくさん読みますし、自分で物語を書くのも好きです。詩や、自分の本のようなものですね。あと、日本ではハイキングもよくします。あまり暑くなくて蚊が多すぎない時期なら、日本はハイキングにとても良い場所です。ハイキングを楽しんでいます。

Apple Seed’s great. I mean, everyone’s really close. The teachers are close to each other and the
students are always really close to the teachers, ‘cause a lot of the students have been here a long time, since they were really young. So everyone’s quite close and they get along quite well, and the classroom dynamic is really good, I think.

アップルシードは素晴らしい学校です。みんなの距離が本当に近いんです。先生同士も仲が良いですし、生徒たちもいつも先生と距離が近いです。多くの生徒たちが本当に幼い頃から長い間ここに通っているからですね。みんなとても親しくて仲が良く、クラスの雰囲気も本当に素晴らしいなと感じています。

I love how convenient it is to live here. There’s so much public transportation that can take you anywhere and it’s so fun to ride the train every day.

My favorite Japanese food is definitely okonomiyaki.

Everyone’s doing a great job and I know sometimes it’s hard to learn English and learn lots of new
words, but I think it’ll be worth it in the future and it’ll allow you to meet lots of new people and try new things.

The thing I love living in Japan is how the culture is very calm and quiet, and also some places can be very friendly.

日本に住んでいて大好きなところは、文化がとても穏やかで静かなところです。それから、とてもフレンドリーな場所もあるところですね。

In my free time I like to make music and also sometimes go outside and play.
